Liberty North Port Concrete, a concrete contractor, pours driveways, patios, pool decks, slabs and walls for South Venice homeowners and property owners, digging out and packing the base before any concrete goes in.

Liberty North Port Concrete is a concrete contractor based in North Port, working for homeowners and property owners in South Venice and the cities around it. I learned concrete on other crews before starting this business, and most of what we pour is flatwork, the driveways, patios and pool decks that need to stay level and drain, along with slabs, walls and footings.

  • Ground and drainage checked first
  • Owner on site for the pour
  • Finished work walked with you

Concrete for homes South Venice owners keep

The Census Bureau's survey estimate puts South Venice's owner-occupied rate at 83.3% for 2020 through 2024, so the person asking about a new driveway or patio here is usually the one who will live with it for years. That's the job I care about most, concrete that's still doing its work long after our crew has gone.

Where a driveway has sunk at the edges or a patio holds water by the back door, the cause is usually underneath. We fix the subgrade, the ground the slab sits on, before anything else, then set the fall so rain runs away from the house.

Concrete work for South Venice homes

Pick the job you have in mind for your South Venice property, and each page explains how we build it and what to plan for.

  • Concrete driveway building

A new driveway poured over a dug-out, packed base, sloped so rain runs away from the garage.

  • Concrete patio construction

Back patios set with the right fall away from the house, so water stops pooling at the door.

  • Stamped concrete services

Stamped patterns pressed into fresh concrete for a stone or brick look, then sealed to protect the surface.

  • Concrete sidewalk building

Walkways and side paths poured with a broom finish, the light brushed texture that gives shoes grip when wet.

  • Garage floor concrete

Garage slabs replaced or poured new, thick enough for the cars and gear they carry every day.

  • Decorative concrete

Colored, exposed or scored finishes for entries and patios where plain gray concrete isn't the look you want.

  • Concrete retaining walls

Where a yard steps down, a concrete wall holds the soil back, with drainage behind it so water doesn't push it over.

  • Concrete floor installation

Interior concrete floors for additions, workshops and sheds, poured level so finishes and equipment sit flat.

  • Concrete pool decks

Pool decks sloped to drain away from the pool and the house, finished with texture for wet bare feet.

  • Concrete steps construction

Front and back steps poured with even heights, so nobody catches a toe on one taller than the rest.

  • Slab foundation building

Slabs for an addition, garage or outbuilding, reinforced with rebar, steel bars that hold the slab together if it cracks.

  • Foundation installation

When a new structure needs a foundation, we form and pour it to the plans and the inspector's checks.

  • Concrete parking lot building

Parking areas for rentals and small properties, built on a heavier base to handle cars all day long.

  • Concrete footings

Footings for walls, columns, sheds and additions, dug to firm ground so what sits on them stays put.

  • Foundation raising

If a slab has sunk or tilted, we look at why first and talk through raising it back into line.

  • Concrete cutting

Clean saw cuts for removing a damaged section, widening a driveway or adding joints to an existing slab.

Serving South Venice from North Port

We're based in North Port and work in the cities around it, so South Venice sits in the same run of jobs as Venice and Osprey. To set up a visit, call or send the form with your address and a few words about the job, and I'll come out to see it.

The price here turns mostly on the size of the slab, how much old concrete comes out, how much base work the ground needs and the finish you choose. The schedule turns on any permit review and on curing, the wait before a new slab takes foot traffic and then cars. Your written estimate gives the figure for your job.

Before your South Venice project starts

Sarasota County's Building Division runs the county permitting process, and before we start we check with the office that covers your address. When a permit is needed, we pull it in our name and set up the inspections. The state also requires anyone seeking licensure as a certified contractor to pass a state certification exam first.

If the budget gets tight, I'd rather you trim the finish than the base. The base is hidden on day one, so it's the first thing people want to cut, but a stamped surface over loose fill sinks and cracks just like plain gray, and nobody can get under it later.

  • Where water runs now, and which way the new slab should fall.
  • How much old concrete comes out, and what sits underneath it.
  • What the slab has to carry, from foot traffic to a loaded truck.
  • A plain broom finish, or a stamped or decorative surface.

How a South Venice job runs

  1. Site visit

Once you reach us, we set a time for me to come out and look at the ground, the drainage and what the concrete has to carry.

  2. Written estimate and permits

I send a written estimate and answer your questions. If a permit's needed, the county expedites review for work under $15,000 on an existing single-family home and for storm-damage permits.

  3. Pour and walk-through

I'm on site with our crew from the forms to the finish, and when the concrete is done we walk the work with you.

South Venice concrete questions

Does a small concrete job on my South Venice home need a permit?

Some small jobs can be exempt. The county's Building Division says specific types of work under $7,500 on single-family homes may be exempt from permitting, but the owner has to meet specific requirements and steps to qualify. If your job may qualify, we help you put the request together.

Did the flood maps change for South Venice homes?

Yes, FEMA issued new flood maps in 2024 that affect Sarasota County property owners, so the zone on your lot may not be the one you remember. At the site visit I look at where water runs on your property before we set the slope of a new slab.

Does a flood-damaged outdoor AC unit need to be raised when it's replaced?

It can. The county notes that the Florida Building Code requires some exterior appliances, such as HVAC units, to be elevated when they're replaced if they sit in a flood zone and were damaged by flooding. If that calls for a new or taller pad, we can pour it once your HVAC contractor knows the height.

Is there a Sarasota County business tax for contractors?

No, Sarasota County repealed its business tax in 2024 and no longer collects it. Businesses inside the city limits of Longboat Key, North Port, Sarasota or Venice may still have to pay that city's business tax.

Will my new concrete driveway in South Venice crack like the old one?

It may get small cracks, because concrete shrinks as it cures, but a slab on a dug-out, packed base shouldn't sink or split open the way one on raked fill does. We also cut control joints, grooves that give the slab a place to crack where we choose, so any hairline cracks run straight and stay out of sight.
